Which symptoms may need a vascular scan?
Common reasons include one-sided leg swelling, calf pain after travel, visible varicose veins, leg heaviness, cold feet, foot numbness or tingling with color change, weak pulses, walking leg pain, diabetic foot wounds, slow healing, and previous clot follow-up. The scan is selected based on the symptom and the clinical question.
Numbness is not always vascular
Numbness and tingling may come from nerves, spine, diabetes, vitamin deficiency, or circulation. Vascular assessment becomes more relevant when numbness is one-sided, associated with coldness, color change, weak pulse, wounds, diabetes, smoking risk, or pain with walking.
